About Cottonship
A Story of Belonging, Craft, and Connection
Cottonship started with a feeling I never forgot.
After moving to America in 2016, life felt unfamiliar in every way. I was far from home, adjusting to a new culture, and learning how to find my place in a world that felt very different from the one I knew. During that time, the clothes I brought from Nepal gave me comfort. They carried color, familiarity, and a sense of belonging when I needed it most.
Then, on a simple day, everything changed. I was on my way to the airport, wearing a bright, colorful patchwork cotton piece because it was comfortable and easy to travel in. Throughout the airport, people kept stopping me to compliment it. One woman even told me her daughter had the same pants and loved them so much she wore them everywhere.
That moment stayed with me. It reminded me that clothing can do something special. It can create connections. It can start conversations. It can make people feel joy. In a world where so many people are becoming more isolated, I realized that something as simple as what we wear can still bring people together.
That is why I created Cottonship.
Cottonship is deeply personal to me. It is rooted in my journey, my culture, and my dream of building something meaningful. I wanted to share the kind of clothing made in Nepal: pieces crafted with care, made from natural fibers like cotton and silk, and brought to life by skilled Nepali artisans. Each piece is handmade, and each pattern is unique, which means every item carries its own story.
Our values are simple: slow fashion, intention, natural materials, handmade craft, culture, simplicity, and soul.
Cottonship is made for people who are free-spirited, kind, mindful, and drawn to color. For people who care about the earth. For people who believe their choices matter. For people who want to wear something that feels both beautiful and meaningful.
To us, clothing is more than style. It is expression. It is identity. It is comfort. It is a way to show the world who you are without saying a word.
Through Cottonship, I hope to share not just clothes, but a message: every one of us can make a difference. We are all unique. The things we wear can reflect that truth, support real artisans, and create moments of connection in everyday life.
At its heart, Cottonship is about belonging: belonging to your story, your values, your individuality, and the world around you. We hope that when you wear Cottonship, you feel connected, grounded, and beautifully yourself.
